During her failed 3-year tenure, Raman
canceled 40 Housing & Homelessness Committee meetings when she served as Chair, stalling 110 critical measures
to address
LA’s biggest crises.

Raman didn’t show up or canceled Housing & Homelessness Committee meetings, letting critical measures stall or die.

As chair of the City Council’s Housing & Homelessness Committee, Raman canceled 40 meetings — resulting in more than 110 policy items stalled in her committee. And her last meeting as chair? She didn’t show up.

“The city has been left flatfooted because she wouldn’t lead our conversation. She wouldn’t schedule our items. She set us up for failure,” Councilmember Monica Rodriguez told the LA Times.

Councilmember Rodriguez also called out Raman for sitting on a measure related to LAHSA reforms: “After sitting on my motion for 477 days, Councilmember Raman continues to stall meaningful action to move the City away from LAHSA and build an in-house homelessness system that is transparent, accountable, and focused on results.”

Under Raman’s gavel: an interim-housing acquisition framework, a “vanlord” crackdown ordinance, and cutting ties with LAHSA all sit pending — no hearings, no votes.

Raman keeps lying to Angelenos about her record of allowing encampments near schools.

Raman continues lying to residents – including recently in the Palisades – about her record of allowing encampments near schools and daycare centers. The truth is Raman has been one of the leading voices in City Hall for allowing encampments outside schools, daycares, parks, and other sensitive community locations.

At a 2024 candidate forum, Raman said: “I don’t think a kid’s going to be safer because a tent is 500 feet away from a school, you know, it’s like, whatever.”

Raman opposed expanding anti-camping ordinance to prohibit encampments near schools, day cares, and more. Throughout her time in City Hall, Raman voted to block prohibiting encampments outside of sensitive community locations over 70 times.

Raman’s rental voucher program has been a failure.

Raman’s signature housing program is the use of rental vouchers to house homeless Angelenos in private residences.

But the program hasn’t taken off – at all. According to the LA Times, “A city consultant on the program set a goal of having 600 households moved into leases by July 1 of this year. [...] But as of that July 1 date, only three households had moved into homes via the vouchers, housing officials said in a report.”

Her constituents are furious at her unwillingness to deal with encampments.
